Disney Cruise Rotational Dining Evening One

We have our Key to the World cards and we are ready to board!

I made our lanyards!  They were so comfortable.  We wore them the whole cruise and got several complements on them. They were easy and fun to make.

One thing that sets Disney Cruise Line apart from other cruise lines is rotational dining.  Each night of your cruise you eat in a different dining room (you will repeat some) and your wait staff moves with you.  You will be assigned a dining time, either early or late and your Key to the World card has all the information listed for your convenience.

Our dining schedule was Tiana’s Place, Triton’s for two nights, Animator’s Palette and a return trip to Tiana’s Place.  We opted to skip our final evening of rotational dining and had a romantic dining experience at Palo.  This is one of Disney’s exclusive adult only restaurants onboard.  The only one on the Wonder.  But, more on that later.

This post is all about Tiana’s Place.

I loved the themed dishes!  The frog is such a nice touch!!

The wait staff is amazing. They remember what you like to drink with your meal and they always serve with a smile!

Being from Louisiana, I was thrilled when I learned we were going to dine at Tiana’s Place.  Having seen the movie, The Princess and the Frog, I knew Disney wouldn’t disappoint with this dining experience.  We were welcomed into the restaurant by the entire wait staff and taken to our seat.  We would be seated at table 35 with people we hadn’t met before.  Disney did an amazing job placing us in the same group.  Four of the people in our group served in the United States Air Force and one served in the Army.  Our conversations were fun and we all had plenty in common to keep our evenings full of fun and laughter.  Disney nailed it on our table assignment.

Here’s the menu:

As you can see the menu was full of wonderful options and our food didn’t disappoint.  I had the best tomato soup I have ever eaten!  John enjoyed the Ahi Tuna Tartare.  We each had the wedge salad and the dressing was delicious!

I had the half chicken and John enjoyed the butternut squash entree.  He also finished some of my chicken because I had too much food.  But, let’s be real, I was really excited about the beignets!  They were excellent!  Our waiter, Michael, brought a plate full for the entire group to share and several in our party enjoyed other desserts while I tried not to inhale all the beignets on the table.  They were delicious!  One of the best things about dining on a cruise, your food is included, therefore, you can eat all you like.  If you want two desserts, you just order two.

Our first evening meal on the Disney Wonder didn’t disappoint.  An additional plus on a Disney Cruise is the entertainment.  The restaurant theming continued with characters, music, singing, dancing and a whole lot of fun.   We even saw a trumpet playing alligator!  I neglected to take photos of this specticle, however, so you will just have to take my word for it.

Cruise hair, don’t care!  It’s a Mickey Mouse hat for each of us. Tiana was delightful and she went to each table, greeted guests and took photos with a smile.

Our new friends, Mike and Julie

Tiana sang and danced and the Crawfish Crooners were delightful in their singing and musicianship!  The music had a decidedly New Orleans flare.  I truly felt as though we had been transported to Tiana’s Place right in he heart of New Orleans.  By the time our meal was complete we had made some new friends, enjoyed a delicious meal and had danced (walked) all around the restaurant.  What a party!

We had a special invitation to attend a Disney Vacation Club preview next so we headed on over to that before the evening entertainment.  I will go into detail about the entertainment in a later post.

So as to not make this post too long, I will break up the dining into different posts and give details about each separately.  You definitely want to hear about our brunch at Palo too!  I thought they would have to roll us out of there when we were finished gorging!
